Paralysis By Analysis

Kay so the more you think about it, the more likely you are to put it off. No matter how you much you think a well-thought out plan is necessary for you to make your move, I’m here to tell you that you’re wrong. You’re dead wrong. Truth is, you can’t control all of the elements outside of one thing – your decision. You decide to take action, whether that be to start your day with a morning jog, whether you buy a used guitar and teach yourself how to strum a few chords… (hey, Green Day did it…) you decide what actions you pull. Or don’t. The fact is, everything else around you in the world will happen anyway. So why are you giving up control? Why are you giving into the external factors, the outside elements when you’ve got the answer right inside you? Move forward. Take action.

Paralysis by analysis is a real thing. Don’t make like Avril and make things so complicated. Find the courage, because you can. You have it inside of you to make things happen. I’ll leave you with this. When I was growing up, I played hockey. I was never a top line centre man, or super star in the league. I worked my fucking ass off to make every team I ever did. I was a go to player on the penalty kill, I won face-offs when we needed them. I was clutch. But far from the talent. I remember having a super bad game one day, I must have been about 13 years old. In the second intermission my dad stopped me before I made it back to the ice and asked how I felt about my play so far. I remember telling him something along the lines that I was pissed that my line mates couldn’t find me, I wasn’t able to create space and no one else on the ice knew what they were doing.

As I say that out loud now, I held a very victimized stance as a young angsty, teenager – needless to say, many of us do. My dad wasn’t a man of many words, but he told me this and it’s forever stuck… he probably doesn’t even remember this “Don’t wait for things to happen, make them happen.”

No matter what, you can count on one thing about life or so I’ve learned… It’s not going to go the way you think and plan.
That said. Once you get a hold of the trigger, squeeze and pull. Don’t spend so much time thinking about where you’re going that you forget to take a step forward.
Paralysis by analysis will kill your ability to become an amazing human. “Don’t wait for things to happen, make them happen.”

You heard it here first
